Needs and Uses: The Bureau of the Census conducts the Annual Demographic Survey (ADS) every year in March as a supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS). In the ADS, we collect information in the areas of work experience, migration, personal income and noncash benefits, household noncash benefits, and race. The Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Department of Health and Human Services co-sponsor the supplement along with the Census Bureau and use data gathered in the ADS to determine the official Government poverty statistics.
